  • Flour Mills invests over N32bn into sugar refinery : Flour Mills of Nigeria plc said it invested over $200million (about N32billion) in establishing a sugar refinery at Apapa-Lagos through its wholly owned subsidiary –Golden Sugar Company Limited.
  • Foreign companies to invest US$100billion in Nigeria : Nigeria’s drive for foreign investment received a major boost with a team of foreign investors indicating their intention to invest US$100 billion in key sectors of the Nigeria economy.Chief Tony Hicks of Anita Energy Limited, who led a 10-man delegation to the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeri Kingsley Moghalu, said on Tuesday in Abuja the team’s visit was to bring massive investments that would add value to the transformation agenda of the Nigerian government.

  • Azura Power to Raise $700 Million to Build Nigerian Plant : Azura Power West Africa Ltd., a Nigerian electricity producer, plans to fund at least 70 percent of a $700 million plant in Benin City with debt from local and international markets, Chief Executive Officer David Ladipo said.
  • World Bank to offer Nigeria $300m housing lifeline : The Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo–Iweala, has said the World Bank would support the Federal Government’s mortgage financing with 300 million dollars liquidity.

  • Nigeria: EMPIN Expands Scholarship/Fellowship to African Public Sector Managers : The United States-based Empowerment Plus Institute (EMPIN), has said that it will be admiring more Public Sector Managers from African countries to its scholarship/fellowship programs in 2013. Speaking at the just concluded certificate award ceremony of 50 per cent free scholarship for public-private partnerships strategies in social infrastructure: hospitals, schools and the accommodation sectors course held last month in Houston, Texas United States for 52 participants, the President of the Institute, Dr. Cici Brown, disclosed that fifteen Asians, seventeen South Americans, thirteen Caribbeans and seven Africans participated in this certification course.
  • MTN Nigeria Secures $3 Billion Loan Facility To Upgrade Operations : As competition spices up in Africa’s most lucrative telecommunication market, MTN Nigeria which has the largest subscriber base in the West African country has secured a $3 billion (about N470 billion) loan facility from a consortium of local and international financial institutions to upgrade its network.
  • Kaduna To Disburse N400 Million To Small Business Owners : Addressing participants at a microfinance intervention brainstorming workshop organized for small scale business owners and industry operators in Kaduna, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Edward Masha said the workshop was organized to sensitize the loan beneficiaries on the basic management knowledge in trade and other ventures they intend to embark upon.
