  • SPARK Raises $2m For Nigerian Internet Startups : Lagos-based Internet group, SPARK has raised a $2 million investment from a syndicate of 17 international investors, based on a $10 million valuation for its network of Nigerian internet startups.
  • Nigeria, Chinese firm sign MoU on 1,000 MW from coal : The nation inched closer to actualising its drive towards increased power supply with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese firm to generate additional 1,000 megawatts from coal.

  • FG built over 8000 houses in 2012 : The Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Ms.Amma People has disclosed that the ministry has been able to deliver 8,069 houses of various categories at affordable prices for the public in the last two years.
  • Ogun partners Malaysian firm to build Abeokuta City : As part of initiatives aimed at providing a socio-economic platform for urban renewal programme and estate development, Ogun State government is collaborating with a Malaysian consulting firm known as Urbanisma to provide a world-class master plan for Abeokuta City Centre.

  • Nigeria Invents, Releases New, Special Maize Varieties : Nigeria, with the collaboration of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), has invented and released two new extra-early-maturing maize hybrids with combined resistance /tolerance to Striga, drought, and low soil-nitrogen.

  • 1,000 scholarships for Africa’s youth : In recognition of International Youth Day, Microsoft Corp. today introduced the 4Afrika Scholarship programme, as part of its 4Afrika Initiative, through which it will provide mentorship, leadership and technical training, certification, university-level education, and employment opportunities for promising African students.
