  • Shell to invest $4 billion in Nigeria, others in 2013 : In line with its strategic drive to grow its upstream businesses, with ongoing selective investment in its downstream activities, Royal Dutch Shell has said $4 billion would be invested in 2013 in “future opportunities” such as Nigeria onshore, Kazakhstan, Iraq, the Arctic and heavy oil.
  • FG, British Firm to Partner on Manpower Devt : Associate Director of Global Training Consulting (GTC), Mrs. Paula Nicholson, has said arrangements have been concluded by a renowned British firm to assist the Federal Government train its human capacity in the public sector.
  • Swedish firm targets Nigeria’s oil industry : Nigeria’s oil and gas industry may attract a major investment as Alfa Lava, a leading Swedish equipment manufacturer has concluded arrangement to collaborate with an indigenous firm, Jocam Nigeria Limited, to provide parts and maintenance services for all the former’s equipment with manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Nigeria to enhance two-way trade to US $ 1 billion with Pakistan : According to a press release issued by Nigerian High Commission Islamabad, Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, President of Federal Republic of Nigeria attaches great importance to boost economic interaction with the Government of Pakistan, particularly the business community.

  • UNIDO’s shoe-making village for Delta : THE United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) is partnering with the Delta State government to set up a shoe-manufacturing village where local shoemakers will be trained.
  • Kogi to provide affordable housing : The Governor of Kogi state, Captain Idris Wada has disclosed that the need for government to provide affordable houses for the citizenry has became more expedient after the flood disaster that ravaged the State.
  • FG to build N100bn medical city in Abuja : A consortium has presented proposals to build Abuja Medical City, a $650 million (N100 billion) multi-hospital complex for 1,687 beds, in the heart of the federal capital.

  • Teen girls invent urine-powered generator to tackle Nigeria's energy problems : Four teenage girls have invented a urine-powered generator to create safer and more access to electricity. Only 50 percent of Nigerians had access to electricity during 2009. Families rely on multiple generators for daily needs, including powering washing machines, TVs and fans.
  • Nigeria wins $1.5m AFCON prize money : For winning the 29th edition of Africa Cup of Nations yesterday, the Super Eagles got a handsome reward of US$ 1.5 million prize money in addition to the trophy and the ticket to the 2013 FIFA Confederation Cup.
