  • Cross River invests N13.3b on rural roads : The Cross River State government, on Thursday in Calabar, said that it had invested N13.3 billion on the construction and rehabilitation of 474 kilometres of rural roads.
  • Ogun to partner Japan on automobile plant : The state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, expressed this while receiving a delegation from Japan, led by the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Rywichi Shoji, in his office in Abeokuta.
  • Canada/Nigeria Trade Balance Hits $3bn : The Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Chris Cooter, has described his country’s trade relations with Nigeria as mutually beneficiall, pegging the volume of trade between the two countries at $3billion.

  • Lagos to build multi-level office complex at Secretariat : Lagos State Government is set to build a multi-level office complex at Alausa, Ikeja, the capital.  The project planned on a 24,700-square metre land in the old public park comprises an eight-floor blocks and two adjoining blocks of five floors, with pedestrian inter-links and two-level parking area with capacity to take 600 vehicles, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr. Femi Hamzat, has said.

  • 10 students bag SPDC post graduate scholarship : THE Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) has awarded post graduate scholarships to ten students in its areas of operation in the Niger Delta to study in the United Kingdom for their masters’ degree programme.
  • NDE plans to train 36, 000 youths in various skills : The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) yesterday said it plans to train 1, 000 youths in each of the 36 states of the federation in about 54 skill acquisition centres of the directorate across the country this year.
  • Japan to establish automobile plant in Ogun : The indication was part of the fallout of the meeting held between the state government and the delegation from Japan, which was led by the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Rt. Honourable Rywichi, to Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s office yesterday in Abeokuta.
  • Delta to employ 5,000 through transport sector : Asaba—No fewer than 5,000 people will be employed through the repositioning of the transport sector in Delta State, the Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Benson Igbaka, said in Asaba yesterday.

  • 24-year-old Nigerian undergraduate Builds Helicopter from Junk : Out of intense simplicity, intense complexities arise. Latest on the scene is the 24-year-old undergraduate from Nigeria who built a helicopter out of an old car and bike parts. It was gathered that Mubarak Muhammed Abdullahi who happens to be  a physics student, spent eight months building the yellow model seen in the picture.
