  • China loan help FG remodel 11 airports : Nigeria has borrowed N106 billion from China to develop 11 of the 22 airports in the country. This was made known by the minister of aviation, Princess Stella Oduah on Thursday at a press conference.
  • FG to spend N1.5bn on immunization : The Federal Government will spend N1.5 billion on the second phase Meningitis immunization (MenAfrica) campaign in a bid to reduce casualties and deaths from the disease.
  • $500m loan: Nigeria, Chinese bank sign Abuja light rail deal : Co o r d i n a t i n g Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has signed a $500m loan agreement with the Chinese EXIM Bank to ensure the completion of the cash-strapped Abuja Light Rail project. Also at the ceremony in Beijing, China, was the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, who announced that the project had reached its final implementation take-off stage.

  • Lagos builds three housing estates : The effort of the Lagos State Government to provide decent housing for its teeming population is yielding fruits as three new projects will be handed over to subscribers soon.
  • Borno commissioner to build houses for flood victims : Borno State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Mr. Inuwa Bwala, has embarked on the construction of twobedroom houses for each of the 50 households and two mosques that were destroyed last week by flood in Tashan-Alade community of Hawul Local Government Area of the state.

  • NGO to train youths on social enterprise, leadership : An international non-governmental organisation, Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa, has concluded plans to create a platform for African youths to meet business leaders and successful entrepreneurs from around the world.
  • FCTA budgets N1 billion for agricultural loan : About N1 billion has been set aside by the Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to be given as loans to small scale farmers in the territory.
  • Ondo to build 10 more mega-primary schools : The Chairman, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Femi Akinmoladun, on Thursday, said that the State Government has promised to build 10 additional mega primary schools in the three senatorial districts of the state.
  • Ebonyi Buys 200 Computers For E-library : Mr Dan Ibiam, the Director, Ebonyi Library Board, on Friday in Abakaliki said the State Government had concluded plans to inaugurate the multi-million naira state e-library project.
  • Enugu distributes N780m equipment to health facilities : Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has flagged off the distribution of health commodities worth about N780m to health facilities. The commodities were donated by Partnership for Transforming Health Systems (PATHS2). The health commodities included 24 units of 40 KVA generating sets, air conditioners, blood banks and laboratory equipment, among others.
  • FG pays pregnant women N5,000 each : The Federal Government has commenced a primary healthcare programme which includes payment of N5,000 to every pregnant woman who patronises Primary Health Centres in the country. The South-West Zonal Coordinator of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Oladimeji Olayinka, made the disclosure yesterday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, at the training of 180 midwives.
  • Kwara to build vocational centres : ILORIN-In an attempt to reduce the problems of youths unemployment in Kwara State, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed yesterday laid the foundation of the N1.4billion international vocational centre in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun local government area of the state.
