  • Delta Plan to Invest 3 Million in Products and Services : Delta Air Lines has announced that they will begin a major investment into their product, with over $3 billion dollars estimated to go into improving the airlines services. On top of this, the airline plan to install fully flat-bed seating across its fleet of international aircrafts; this will include the introduction of flat-bed seating across the airline’s Business Elite cabins.
  • Ondo spends N10bn on mega schools : THE Ondo State government said it had invested about N10 billion on the construction of the mega primary schools project across the 18 local government areas of the state.
  • Tiger Brands buys 63% stake in Nigeria flour mill : SA consumer goods group Tiger Brands (TBS) has acquired a 63.35% shareholding in Dangote Flour Mills Plc in Nigeria for approximately R1.5 billion. The transaction is expected to be effected during the first week of October.

  • UI to establish diseases’ study centre : Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Isaac Adewole, yesterday gave the assurance that the institution will re-establish a centre for the study of haemoglobinopathy. He gave the pledge at the Faculty of Arts during a special congress held by the university’s chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in honour of the late Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Kolawole Olu-Owolabi, who died penultimate Sunday.

  • Nigeria: U.S. to Give One Out of Five Nigerian Students Scholarship : South Baylo University, California, United States is set to give scholarship to one out of five Nigerian students who offer to study for a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in the institution, Mervyn Fishback, International Student Counsellor, South Baylo University has said.
  • AMAC Approves N15m Scholarship For Students : Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has approved a N15 million scholarship grant for deserving indigenous students in its bid to encourage and promote access to education for all eligible students in the council.
  • Governor’s wife offers scholarship to 30 kids : Omolewa Ahmed, wife of Nigeria’s Kwara State Governor, on Monday said that she would take full responsibility for the education of some 30 indigent primary school pupils in the state.
  • Nigeria: FG to Train 5,000 Youths : The Federal Government is to train 5,000 youths in various sectors of the economy in its bid to tackle the menace of unemployment which has been blamed for the high level of insecurity and violence in the country.
  • 110,000 jobs for young women –Minister : The Federal Government is to generate about 110,000 jobs for unemployed Nigerian young women between the ages of 14 and 45 under the women edition of the Youth Enterprise with Initiatives in Nigeria, YouWin.
  • FG grants 70 students scholarship to China, Russia : A total of 70 indigent Nigerian students who bagged this year’s Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) scholarships have been dispatched to China and Russia by the Federal Government. The Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i, who disclosed this in Abuja at a orientation programme preceding their departure, counseled the students to work hard and be of good conduct in order to excel in their studies.

  • Woman Divorces Husband in Ilorin Because He Talks Too Much : A 38-year-old housewife, Mrs Mariam Adunni of Omoda Area, Ilorin,Kwara state has been granted her wish by the town’s Area Court to dissolve her six-year-old marriage. Asked why she wanted divorce, she said her husband talks too much.

  • Taxi Driver Wins SEC’s Maiden Integrity Award, N2.5m for Returning N18m : Mr. Imeh Usah, a taxi driver at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Tuesday, emerged the winner of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Integrity Award. The Daily Post newspaper reports that Mr. Usah also got rewarded with the sum of 2.5 million naira, when in 2007, he demonstrated rare honesty by returning N18 million forgotten in his taxi cab by a customer.
