Investments in Nigeria

  • Nigeria, Austria Partner To Boost Trade And Investment : Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (AFEC), the apex chamber of commerce in Nigeria and Austria, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will help boost business and economic activities between the two countries.
  • Phase 3 Telecom invests N26.07bn on network projects : Phase 3 Telecom, Nigeria’s foremost national long distance operator, has said its investments in ongoing network expansion projects spanning the seven year period of year 2005- 2016 would gulp at least N26.07 billion (about $165 million) when completed.
  • Nigeria: Bresson to Invest U.S.$90 Million in IPPS : Independent Power firm, Bresson A.S. Limited has revealed plans to invest an additional $90 million for the construction of independent power plants in the country. It had initially invested about $10 million in the power sector.
  • German firms increase stake in Nigeria : AT a time when major multinational companies operating in the commanding heights of the economy such as oil and gas, to mention just a few, are either downsizing or pruning down their services, some German firms boosting their stake in the nation’s fledging economy, The Nation can authoritatively report.
  • PFAs invest N525.5bn in shares : About N525.5bn, 15 per cent of the total pension assets valued at N3.52trn has so far been invested in the stock market.
  • MTN invests N600m in Lagos’ security fund : Nigeria’s largest telecommunication operator, MTN, has invested about N600 million into the Lagos Security Trust Fund, LSTF, to boost security operations in the state.

  • Tanzanian firm plans $50m fruit plant in Benue : A Tanzanian-based company, Export Trading Group, ETG, has expressed its readiness to invest a $50 million (N8billion) in the establishment of a fruit juice processing factory in Nigeria.
  • IBM to establish innovation centre in Nigeria : International Business Machine (IBM) say it would establish an innovation centre in Nigeria by the first quarter of 2014. The company has also disclosed plans to fund major Information Communication Technology (ICT) research projects which would complement the efforts of the Ministry of Communications Technology iDEA incubation centres and other ICT entrepreneurs to make Nigeria an ICT hub for software innovation. Virginia ‘Ginni’ Rometty, chairman, president and chief executive officer of the IBM made this known during a working visit to the ministry in Abuja.
